Useful Tip #1 - Always store your inkjet cartridges upright.
This simple tip solves 50% of printing problems. During shipping, cartridges often get thrown around and are not always in an upright position. This forces the ink to move to the opposite end of the cartridge where it gets soaked up by a
sponge inside your cartridge. By storing upright the cartridge ink is free to flow out of the cartridge easily.
Useful Tip #2 - Run your printhead cleaning function when installing the cartridge
When installing a new printer cartridge, ensure you remove all printhead tape and vent hole tapes on the cartridge. Then place the cartridge in your machine. Finally, run the printhead cleaning cycling on your machine 2-3 times in a row to get a good flow of ink.
Useful Tip #3 - Fixing lines in print, faint colors or missing colors (HP & Lexmark Cartridges Only)
Place half an inch of hot water (not boiling water) into a paper cup or dish. Place the cartridge upright in the cup so that just the small copper bottom of the printhead sits in the water. Let it soak for about 30 seconds. Remove the cartridge and carefully
dry it with a soft paper towel. You can also add some Isphocal Alcohol to the water to make it a bit stronger if needed. Re-install the cartridge into the printer and perform the cleaning cycle before using it again.
Useful Tip #4 - Getting full colors and flow.
If the tips above helped but you think you should be getting fuller colors try this tip. Use a paint program to draw 3 large boxes. Make one box red, one blue and the other yellow (and one in black if it is a problem color). By printing the
boxes at the highest resolution (DPI) available, the cartridge will push the ink out at a high volume. Once a good flow is obtained you shouldn't have problems with the cartridge again.
Useful Tip #5 - Another great tip for printing cartridges
Take a paper towel and fold it several times to make it thick and soft. Place it on a hard surface such as your kitchen counter. Remove the cartridge and place it on the paper towel with the printhead down (i.e. in an upright position). While applying even
pressure pushing the cartridge down on the towel, rock it from front to back. When you lift the cartridge up you should see
several small drops of ink on the paper towel. This motion can push dried particles out of the printhead so that it can print
properly. You can obtain best results by perform the rocking motion several times before replacing the cartridge in the printer.
Adding some hot water to the towel may also help.
Useful Tip #5 - A last resort but may help
Allow the cartridge to sit upright in the printer overnight often solves a lot of the problems encountered with the shipping. During the night, gravity will allow the ink to return to the bottom of the cartridge.
Useful Tip #6 - Light Keeps Blinking, Printer Won't Recognize Cartridge
Make sure you removed any printhead tape or protective clip on the cartridge. Ensure the back of the cartridge is free from any particles by wiping it with a damp paper towel along with the circuits the cartridge touches inside the printer. You can also unplug the printer while the printer is on and wait 2 minutes before plugging back in. This should reset the printer. Epson cartridges should not be removed, but make sure it is seated all the way down and unplug machine. Also, by following the cartridge installing utility on your printer driver will solve the problem.
About Compatible & Remanufactured Cartridges
Manufactured cartridges are simply that: an original printer cartridge that has been cleaned, refilled, tested, re-cleaned and
then repackaged. Although they may test print perfectly in our factory, there may be problems after being shipped. Industry fault
rates vary from cartridge to cartridge but usually black remanufactured cartridges have a failure rate of 2% and color cartridges
from 8-15%. We at USA Ink Cartridges.com have the highest standards available and our fault rates are among the best in the industry
at less than 1% on blacks and 4-6% on colors (though rates for some models vary slightly). Remember that color cartridges are the
most difficult cartridges and we recommend that customer buy 2-3 cartridges rather than just one. This way if one has a problem
during the weekend you have a replacement while the faulty one is being sent back. Remember, USAInkjets offers a 100% 90 day money
back warranty on cartridges that are less than 30% used. As well there's an additional 90 day product guarantee for replacements
(less than 30% used) and a free, postage paid mailer on the back of the ink cartridge box so it doesn't cost you to return a
faulty cartridge.
If none of the above tips work, you can use the free pre-paid return mailer on the back of the cartridge box to send a faulty
cartridge back to us. Please refer to the Return Policy tab for the directions to process and return your cartridges.
